Desperation

I throw around the word desperate a lot. Today, I saw desperate. We arrived to screen patients for surgery at 0800. There were over 500 already waiting. Two groups, the Belizans and the Mennonites. The Belizans speak Spanish and some English. The Mennonite's speak German, they are fair skinned and have a lot of skin cancer issues.

There was no organization which drove me crazy. I quickley started telling people what to do and ordering x-rays in order to get through the masses. My organization work and 12-13 hours later most of the patients were seen. Five of us left before things were finished due to the lack of space and other issues. For the men reading this I know apologize...... The pills did not work and the menstrual monster came EARLY. So my new Belize friend Nurse Armstrong when to the OB area and stole me a female product that resembles a diapher. Can't tell you how disappointed I am with the progesterone.

Those of you who voted for "the HOPE" (love you Gariann) should come to Belize and see what universal health care is like. It is scary. If you need a knee replacement (and everyone does) you are given a px for an implant. Then you have to purchase your implant. Who knows if you can even find it. Then you have to find a time when the surgeon can operate and which usually takes a year b/c he only operates once a month.

I miss my kidos and husband. Next year they are coming with me. Grace and Clay would love the kids. They are beautiful people. I must say the women are pretty sensual. They talk about sex a lot. They are also very pro Breast-Feeding. There are pictures everywhere in the hospital and they have kids at the school draw posters. I posted one of them.

They LOVE to eat. They kept bringing us snacks like every 2 hours. Very starchy food. So as far as my preparations went I didn't do so hot.
  • My female pills didn't work
  • My miralx has not worked
  • I have had no time to exercise to Dancing with the Stars
  • I don't think I will loose weight while I am here
  • 4 people asked me if I was ill b/c I was so pale
  • Forgot.... the shower curtain fell on me this morning while I was showering.
  • As we drive home in the evening we can smell pot everywhere.
  • FYI for the Zwolinski family..... the Mennonites moved to Belize so they wouldn't have to pasteurise their cheese.

Love you all.

Soooo sorry to hear about the menstrual monster. . .and the fact that you haven't had time for Dancing with the Stars. The 15 year old boy with melanoma everywhere is just pitiful. Can't wait for your next update - and YOU KNOW I AM NOT FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE !!! (Neither is our president) Just had to clear that up - Love ya :)
