In Lexington, we lived in a small community of homes built in the 1940's. Most had been re-modeled with the character and old wood work left. Grace walked across the street to school and I could walk to Kroger and Graters. We loved it. Loving a neighborhood isn't enough especially when your husband hates his job. Thus the move to Mason, Ohio.
I cried when I looked at houses on-line. They were big, and all looked the same. Instead of all brick, most (not all) had plastic siding and shutters. We did finally find a house in a neighborhood that had trees and green spaces. Still mourning my friends and life in Lexington, I had a horrible first year in Mason.
Three years out I look back at where God has brought us and my heart is not nearly as heavy. Bryan has a great job and partners that he respects and has fun with. I was able to return to work and create my "dream" job working with scoliosis patients and old friends.
I have the best neighbors (you know who you are), my sister and husband moved very close, the kids love their school, and I work with incredible people. So, what is the point to this blog??
It has been rumored for some time that coyotes are lurking in the neighborhood and some small dogs have been found ravaged. As you know, I love my shih-tzu Reuben. Since the rumor I personally walk him outside while he does his business. Tonight my dear neighbor Heidi informs me that her neighbor saw a Cougar in her yard this am at 0945. Yes a Cougar. I live in suburbia. No forests, no mature trees, concrete everywhere neighborhood. How the world does a Cougar manage to get into my neighbors back yard.
I am not only frightened for Rueben, but for my kids, heck... my self. You may think I am joking but this serious.
Grace made it home from the garbage dumps of Mexico only to be possibly eaten by a Cougar.
