A Week of 1st's

This week held a series of "FIRSTS" for me.

Grace asked me to highlight her hair.
Last summer one of Grace's friends sprayed red hair spray all over her hair. Grace is blond and her hair is so light that the red was really red and would not come out. We were leaving for Hilton Head and I explained to Grace that the chlorine and sun should take it out. It didn't. It turned pinkish. In desperation I went to the store and discovered they still sold Sun In. Her hair lite up with highlights and the red disappeared. Months later the sun in effect faded and left her hair a bit drab. I am a frustrated hair stylist at heart and we gave my 13 year old a little hair make over. It looks lovely. I am feeling old, my baby is highlighting her hair.

Grace left the country

It hard to believe that I actually paid to let my daughter go over seas with out her family. Grace is experiencing her first mission trip. She is in Monterrey Mexico with Back 2 Back ministries. They will be working with orphans. Actually I am very excited for her to experience another culture and to see how God can use her in a very special way. She worked hard and raised a lot of the money for the trip herself. Keep her in your prayers.

Attended my first Mardi Gras Party

My neighbor Jackie is going to do the Flying Pig marathon and to raise money she and her husband threw a Mardi Gras party. She went all out. The food was incredible. I have terrible heart burn today. They had masks, beads, & hurricanes. My goal was to make it till 11:00 pm. I have a reputation for leaving early to find my bed. I think I made it to 10:45 (Patrick... I am still working on it.)

Going to VEGAS

I am leaving in a couple hours to attend a conference in Las Vegas. I have never really wanted to go to Vegas. If I was going to go I assumed Bryan would be with me. No such luck. I am going with my 2 bosses Tonya and Sandy. Tonya and I are both Vegas V's, but Sandy is an experienced LV woman. At the Mardi Gras party many of my male neighbors were sharing Vegas stories. This place sounds like it was definitely designed for men. I am not into the whole nude girl, sex show, gambling thing. I plan on shopping and enjoying a spa treatment. You should probably pray for me too..... that I survive!

RESET

My church is starting this series called RESET. It is such a cool concept, especially for someone like me who grew up going to church. The goal is to reset my assumptions of Jesus. Dave (my pastor) talked today about how we have all these different view of who Jesus is, like... Hippie Jesus, Patriotic Jesus, Baby Jesus, Nice Guy Jesus and Teacher Jesus. They played a clip from the movie Taladega Nights where Will Farrow is praying to baby Jesus. It is hilarious.

This is a first for me and I am excited to challenge myself about the assumptions I have made regarding Jesus.

I am going to try to keep this blog going. I find it therapeutic. So if you want to ride along sign up to follow the blog.

Until next time.
