I awoke to a warm body pressed closed to mine. The smell of morning breath was prying my eyes open. Not what you think. My little Clay was snuggled up with me. This is not uncommon. He usually comes down around 6:30 to wake me up. It was only 5:00 am. He had the croup and was barking like a seal.
There is never a good time for your child to be sick. Today was bad because I had planned on working and was feeling great after the puppy adventure was over. After emailing my colleagues to update my status I went back to the bed so we could snuggle bug.
There was no snuggle bug in the bed. He was downstairs happy as can be. A little Advil, little cartoon network and behold... the kid feels all better.
This always happens. You either have to work, have a appointment with a friend for lunch and your kid get sick. Well as his Advil wore off his so did his enthusiasm for the day. Poor guy, he is sick.
Kids are so amazing. They can be puking, screaming, hacking one minute and then running around chasing their sibling the next. Adults would never react that way. When we are slightly ill we take full advantage of it.
Bryan got me a new wedding band for Valentines. It is lovely but a bit too large. I had to go get it sized today because I am going to Vegas on Sunday and I need a wedding band. After I dosed up Clay, and off we went. Two minutes into the drive he was out. I woke him up at the jeweler and again, he perked up.
We were enthusiastically greeted by the sales team. I explained that I just needed a size adjustment and they quickly dropped away. Clay tells the sales woman that he knows where the toys are. What in the world. Toys?!
She laughs and takes him over to a locked cabinet where there are tons of stuffed animals and he proceeds to take 10 minutes to pick one out. He explains to us that his Daddy always bring him here. Maybe Bryan is teaching him how to treat a woman. Ha! Ha!
We settle back in the car which is becoming an ordeal in of itself because a Lego has become lodged in the seat belt thingy. Clay announces that his tummy will feel better with Skyline. I oblige and he eats a whole 3-way. Simple pleasures.
It was a great day not to work!
Tonight we are hitting him with the big stuff.... Mucinex and Robitussin.
