The Car

When Dodge first introduced the mini-van, my family was one of the first to get one. My Aunt Mamie bought one for our family and my mother cried. It was quite the moment. We retired the family station wagon and the Dodge Caravan took its place as the Prince Mobile.

The next 3 Prince mobiles were Dodge Caravans. It got a little old and I swore I would never drive one. Never say never!!

The Strader SUV is on its way out and much to our surprise, eligible for the Klunker for Kash incentive offered by our wonderful government. Clay and I spent several hours looking at all the different types of mini-vans. We decided on a Honda Odyssey. This was another thing I sworeI would never do. My guess is that 80% of the people in Mason have a Honda Odyssey. Heck, if you can't beat them, join them!!

Our salesman was a quirky older guy who seemed seasoned in the car business. He was not pushy and very direct. I liked him. I explained that Bryan had to work till 8, but I wanted to come look at the 2009's.

Grace, Clay and I arrived at 6 and our man said that they had all sold. So he walks me and the kids out to the very back of the parking lot where I said, "Hey...there is a black one, I want a black one!" It was right off the truck and a 2010. No problem, he says, and we hop in. The kids loved it, I loved it.

Its now close to 7:00 and he tells me to drive it around for an hour till Bryan can get to the dealership. I thought this was a bit strange. He explained that there were people who wanted to buy it and they could take it right out from me if it was on the lot. So we did what he said.

We went to subway and ate dinner then parked in the back of the USED car parking lot just like he said. We stayed in the car listening to the radio and playing with the seats while waiting on Bryan.

Bryan comes walking out to the car and to my surprise he has a different salesman with him(soon to be named Slim Shadey). Slim says that our other man had to leave due to an emergency. What?! He had a sale! Why would he leave? Then Slim proceeds to tell us that we would have to pay more, etc.... We asked to see the manager and the truth came out.

Apparently, the car I spotted was already sold. Salesman #1 sent me out with a sold care knowing full and well that it was sold, but hoping to pull a fast one. While I was out he found a 2009 and while driving it to the front of the parking lot he wrecked it into another Honda! Due to his accident he was off getting drug tested!

So, salesman #1 was drunk, high, or something and #2 (Slim) was just stupid and shadey!

Maybe this whole thing was to save me from a mini-van. Who knows. I am frustrated and amused at the same time.

That is television material. Sounds like you were trapped between the Twilight Zone and Seinfeld. :) Did you ever get a new vehicle?
